The Conklin® 1898 Spectra Fusion Collection represents a masterful blend of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge materials science—where the beauty of nature meets modern engineering. 

At the heart of this collection lies stabilized maple burl wood, a specially treated wood infused with epoxy to significantly enhance its durability. Through a meticulous process involving drying, vacuum pressure infusion, and curing, the stabilizing agent deeply penetrates the wood fibers, filling pores and voids. Once hardened, the epoxy transforms the wood into a medium that resists warping, cracking, and moisture, while showcasing a smooth, polished finish. This process not only preserves the natural grain and color but also elevates them, making stabilized wood ideal for applications requiring both beauty and strength—such as luxury pen making.

The Spectra Fusion Collection takes innovation a step further by fusing the stabilized wood with hand-poured epoxy resin. This fusion creates a hybrid material that is both structurally superior and visually dynamic. The epoxy is poured to enhance and interact with the wood’s natural figure, filling voids and creating translucent layers with jewel-like depth. This makes Spectra Fusion pens capable of withstanding daily handling, environmental changes, and moisture exposure without compromising their visual or functional qualities. Available finishes include Blue Fusion, where oceanic blues swirl against golden-orange burl, and White Fusion, which blends luminous snow- white epoxy with the wood’s natural warmth—each pen revealing layers, translucency, and dynamic color movement across the barrel.

The fountain pen features a precision-engineered JoWo stainless steel nibs (Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, Stub & Omniflex) or optional 14kt gold nibs (Fine, Medium & Omniflex). Each fountain pen uses either ink cartridges or the included threaded converter. Every nib and plasma-treated feeder are meticulously tested to ensure exceptional ink flow, writing precision, and a smooth, responsive feel.

The two-piece capped GEL rollerball pen is compatible with standard international refills for everyday convenience. The GEL ink is a new feature in black or blue colors. We also have a huge selection of point sizes and colors in the LIQUID ink rollerball refills to further customize your pen.
