Following Virgilio and Caronte, Visconti continues its journey through Dante’s Divine Comedy with Paolo & Francesca, opening a new chapter in the Comedìa collection dedicated to the most profound and universal force of human experience: love. Paolo and Francesca are among the most celebrated figures in Dante’s work. It is another stunning enhancement to this popular series of fountain pens, rollerballs and ballpoints. Collection Story:  

Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 in Florence and is considered to be the greatest Italian poet who has ever lived. He is also known as the father of the Italian language as we know it. His most important work "Comedia" later known as the Divine Comedy, (Divina Comedia), is a masterpiece of world literature that explores the afterlife through three realms: Hell (Inferno), Purgatory (Purgatorio) and Heaven (Paradiso). Those pen themes are still available in limited quantities for all writing modes.   

Lovers in life, Paolo and Francesca were killed by Francesca’s husband - who was also Paolo’s brother -after being discovered together. For this reason, Dante places them in the second circle of Hell, among the lustful souls swept away by a passion stronger than reason. Condemned to be carried forever within an endless storm, they remain united for eternity, symbolizing a love that endures beyond sin and death. 

The Comedia fountain pen features Visconti's large steel nib that is plated to match the trims, fine, medium or broad sizes. You may use a cartridge or the included ink converter for bottle ink.
